Operation: Love Reunited {Portland Family Photographer}

Way back in 2003 my amazing husband and I were married. We married at Fort Carson in Colorado Springs in a church made of cinderblock (seriously). The day we were married the war started overseas. A few days later my husband (and so many others) were deployed. He was gone for 14 months total (easiest first year of marriage ever- no fighting!). I was (and still am) so proud of him and what he did. It wasn't the only time he was deployed but it was definitely the longest.

I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for any service people and their families and have always wanted to offer some type of support. Last year I decided to get involved in Operation: Love Reunited. Through OpLove, military families can find photographers who offer free photo sessions (and other products or discounts) and they are able to get a photoshoot before, during or after a deployment. Deployments are scary and I know pictures are a small thing but something that helps any service person make it through all those days without their families.

Here are some pictures of the OpLove sessions I've done this year. These first two sessions were done the day after Thanksgiving and it was pouring! These families were such troopers!

I met this last family downtown in April. We had much better weather!

A huge thank you to these amazing and strong families. These little kids have true heroes to look up to and they are in my prayers every day.

Congratulations! {Portland Maternity Photographer}

I'm so excited for this lovely family (and our good friends) to have a new little girl! It feels so good knowing that I get to surround my own son with people and families like this one.

Congratulations on baby Halle! We cannot wait to meet her!

Red| i heart faces {Portland Children's Photographer}

A few weeks ago the family and I packed it up for a few days in San Antonio. It was the best to be back in Ben's home town. While Oregon is definitely the place for me, I do really miss Texas. I was made to live there- even if only for a short time.

While in San Antonio I participated in a fabulous workshop. There will be so much more coming on that and our trip, but for now here's a peek at one of the shots I took during said workshop. This was such a fun concept shoot!

Concept shoots are a really fun way to get across the message and style you are going for in your photography session. A concept shoot takes much more planning and decision making on both the part of the photographer (that's me!) and the client (you?). If you are interested in learning more or are interested in your own concept shoot I'd love to work with you!

Stay tuned for more Texas pictures and more concept shoots coming very soon!
